Yusuf Salami, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, on Thursday said that no fewer than 48 persons lost their lives in road accidents in the state in August.
Salami said this while speaking with journalists in Ibadan.
He said the 48 persons died from 29 accidents, which also injured 96 persons.
According to him, a total of 31 commercial and 16 private vehicles were involved in the accidents.
He warned motorists against over speeding which, he said, was the major cause of the accidents.
Salami appealed to drivers to obey all traffic rules and regulation to avoid accidents, particularly this ‘ember’ month.
He advised: “It is better to arrive late than to be the late.”
