Four hundred Stoke fans queued up through Leek town centre for a chance to meet Victor Moses on Thursday.
Philipp Wollscheid was also there.
The first team pair were at Leek United’s Derby Street branch for an hour from 2pm to help promote the building society’s Save and Support affinity account.
It was Wollscheid’s first visit to the town and he was impressed with the sea of red and white shirts on display in the sunshine.
Moses said: “I was a little surprised because we had a 40-minute drive from the training ground and I didn’t know what to expect. It’s nice to see we can make the kids smile.
What started as a service to help customers buy goods from Alibaba retailers has grown into a serious finance business all of its own.
“We’ve got great support at Stoke. I’ve been here for several months and this is what I’ve experienced. It’s always a good thing if you can hear the crowd support you.
“It gives you a buzz. I knew some things about the club before I came here but the level of support has taken me a little by surprise. I like it.”
Moses, who is on loan for the season from Chelsea, added: “I enjoyed it. It’s always nice to do things for the community and I was delighted to be able to meet fans and sign autographs. It’s a pleasure.
“There were a lot of people. I guess I should have been there earlier!”
