A 40-year-old man, Aliu Raji, on Friday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State for allegedly conspiring with others at large to receive stolen phones and money.
The suspect, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and receiving stolen property.
The prosecutor, Inspector Adegeshin Famuyiwa, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on August 8, 2022 at 1:30pm at M25 Hotel, Kokoro Abu, Ikorodu.
Famuyiwa alleged that the defendant, with others at large, received a stolen iPhone 11 worth N248,000, Itel phone valued at N48,000, Nokia phone valued at N9,000 and another Itel phone worth N4,500.
The prosecutor added that the defendant also received a stolen N78,250 cash.
She said that the items belonged to one Blessing Anegbe.
The prosecutor told the court that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 328 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, O. A. Ogbe, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said that the sureties must have evidence of one year tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Ogbe adjourned the case until September 28 for mention.
