Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan has booked their ticket to return to the elite division of the Nigerian league just one year after the team was relegated to the second tier league, the Nigerian National League.
With a lone goal victory over Akwa Starlets in a Group B tie at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, 3SC garnered a total of 50 points to leapfrog over First Bank FC of Lagos to remain in 47 points.
Gabros International of Nnewi finished second as they defeated Ekiti United 2-1 at home in a dramatic fashion.
Both 3SC and Gabros achieved their feats through the hard way, while First Bank and Akwa Starlets are left to curse their stars for the turn of events on the last day of the league.
Meanwhile, the Group A winner is undecided due to abandonment and walk over of some matches at the weekend, hence the league management board will have to resolve the matter to ensure equity.
NNL Secretary, Lawrence Katken, has however promised that the league organizers will do the needful to resolve the impasse to allow for a smooth end to the exciting season.
