Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade has declared Nigeria needs to deploy digitization to tackle insecurity challenges rocking the country.
Ayade in an interview on Arise TV monitored in Lagos by Eagleonline, stated insecurity in Nigeria was a broad issue to be discussed.
He said: “…from what I know a as problem starting from Boko Haram to ISWAP to ISIS to Al-Qeda, the linkages and of course Afghanistan itself as a theory and the collapse of Afghanistan has certain cumulating impacts in Nigeria.
“’The issue of conflicts in terms of the different sects of Muslims and how it affects the philosophy of ISWAP and what needs to be done and Nigeria’s preparedness to use the digital warfare as an alternative to contact warfare in dealing with these issues”.
When asked if he plans to run for presidency in 2023, Ayade asserted he would not contest if the country is not ready for an improvement.
Ayade stressed: “It is a function of the party’s ideology. If the party believes in quality and value; believes in doing a critical appraisal of every governor; what he totally renews in his period; this is what he has achieved, a critical assessment to establish whether this is a credible candidate worthy of being presented as a candidate of a party.
“If we go by that method, Yes. If we go by zoning and the zoning does not favour me, no way; if it favours me, yes. But I am not ready to throw myself up there to run for president when the country is not for an improvement. But truly to just let somebody see how we can change this country, if not, I just retire home and sleep”.
