The opposition Action Peoples Party (APP) in Abia State has restated its readiness to take over the governance of the state as well as leaving no stone unturned in making sure that it emerges victorious in the forthcoming 2023 general elections in the state.
The party also affirmed that a former Executive Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area in Abia state, Chief Princewill Ukaegbu, as new APP State chairman which came on the heels of recent resignation of the acting State party chairman, Hon Sylvanus Nwaji, who is currently seeking for election for Ukwa east and Ukwa west Federal constituency seat in the house of representatives in 2023.
These were contained in a release issued at the end of a brief meeting of the State Executive Council, Local Government chairmen and ward chairmen and the APP candidates for the 2023 general elections in Abia state which took place at the party’s state secretariat in Umuahia, the state capital Tuesday.
Speaking while handing over the mantle of leadership to the new Abia APP chairman, Hon Princewill Ukaegbu, the erstwhile chairman, Chief Sylvanus Nwaji expressed his profound gratitude to the leader and Abia governorship candidate of the party, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu for allowing him to serve meritoriously.
Nwaji who doubled as the House of Representatives candidate of the Party for Ukwa east and Ukwa West Federal constituency in the forthcoming election, also thanked other party leaders, thousands of members and teeming supporters across the state for the necessary support and maximum cooperation he enjoyed immensely till now.
He described APP as a train waiting to move Abia people out of untold hardship, penury and joblessness ravaging the entire, reiterating that the party is poised to win the coming general elections as it boasts of candidates with proven integrity, needed capacity, and expertise to provide the democratic dividends to the doorsteps of people of the state.
In his remarks, the new APP Chairman Abia state, who recently dumped the All Progressive Congress (APP) for the APP, Chief Princewill Ukaegbu stated that his decision to join the new party was borne out of the qualifications, leadership experiences and youthfulness of the APP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Mascot Uzor Kalu.
On his part, the Abia governorship candidate of the party in the 2023 general elections, used the medium to officially announce an ex-house of representatives aspirant from the state, Elder Mark Ugorji as the Director General of his campaign organization.
Mascot expressed confidence in the capacity of Ugorji to bring his enormous wealth of knowledge and experience to bear, in the new task assigned to him by party members and entire Abia people who are yearning for effective and responsive leadership at all levels of the state towards enhancing their welfare, economic growth and Infrastructural developement in Abia state.
In his acceptance speech, Ugorji, appreciated Mascot Uzor Kalu and other party faithful for finding him worthy to do the job.
The umuahia south-born millionaire businessman also reaffirmed his genuine commitments to delivering victory for the APP in the upcoming governorship election in 2023 in Abia state.
His words: “Your Excellency, thank you for believing in me to do this job, and I am making a promise to you that I will execute this task perfectly. Let me also assure you that I will do the job with all diligence, honesty, and integrity.”
“As a man of action, I will also go the extra mile to ensure your victory at the polls. I will even go to the enemy’s camp and poach the right people needed for your victory”.
