An NGO, “I Stand With Buhari”, says a credible opposition is needed to defeat Governor Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers in 2019.
Ajemina Obene, Coordinator of the group in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Port Harcourt on Thursday that his organisation would partner with like minds to win Wike.
Obene, a Justice of Peace (JP), alleged that Rivers people were tired of the lawlessness of the Wike-led administration, and patiently waiting to unseat him with their Permanent Voter’s Card come 2019.
He said: “Yes, we are a pro-Buhari organisation but as Rivers people, we are duty-bound to also educate and mobilise the electorates not to make the mistake of voting for PDP in Rivers again.
“We have had enough of killings in our state, unprecedented violence and kidnappings that have chased potential investors away from Rivers.
“Rivers people cannot be fooled with the unplanned and cosmetic projects not budgeted for, that will not achieve value-for-money.”
According to Obene, investors are uninformed about the economy of Rivers, hence, cannot invest in the state because the state’s budget is inaccessible.
He said: “Rivers budget that ordinarily is a public document is now a private document because the current administration in the state is only interested in manipulating Rivers people.
“As a group, while we are projecting President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office, we shall also ensure that Governor Nyesom Wike and PDP are shown the way out in 2019.”
The “I Stand With Buhari” LGA coordinator congratulated Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, the newly elected All Progressives Congress state chairman in Rivers.
He said that Ojukaye Flag-Amachree’s emergence was divinely orchestrated to build a formidable APC ahead of the 2019 general elections.
He added: “With Mr Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, APC in Rivers is now ready to give its opponents in Rivers a good fight in 2019.”
