The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate for the 2019 election in Niger State, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko, has declared that his government will pay N20,000 monthly to all unemployed graduates in the state under a social security scheme that he will launch.
The PDP standard bearer while addressing party faithful in continuation of his campaign for the the 2019 governorship election in Suleja town over the weekend, pledged to pay any new minimum wage approved by the federal government in addition to assuring of regular payment of pensions, gratuities and staff salaries.
Nasko told the crowd that under the social security scheme, a register for all those that are unemployed would be opened by his government to enable the administration to properly engage those without educational qualification in vocational training.
He said: “From time to time we will be updating the register so that within our four years in office we will be able to reduce the number of the unemployed in our state
“Unemployment is one of the major problems being faced in the state and country the huge number of the unemployed is dangerous for the country.”
Nasko however charged the youths not to involve themselves in criminal activities like drug abuse and other dangerous tendencies.
Nasko said the APC government had done everything to intimidate him so that he would not run for governor but declared: “I cannot be intimidated.
“We were arrested, detained and prosecuted by the All Progressives Congress government but we cannot be intimidated.
“We only fear God and we are sure that we will take over government because they have failed to provide the required dividends of democracy to the people.”
Also addressing the rally, former Niger State Governor, Dr.Muazu Babangida Aliyu chastised the present government in the state “for not doing enough for the development of the state in the last three and half years of governance despite not being distracted by court cases.
“it is regrettable and very unfortunate that the APC government has wasted the opportunity given to them.
Aliyu advised the electorate to get their “PVCs ready and come out enmasse to vote for Umar Nasko and other PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.”
The former governor said unlike what played out in 2015, the 2019 general election would be devoid of religious and tribal sentiments at national level and in Niger East Senatorial District, which would translate to defeat for the APC ” which is “campaigning with religion and ethnicity”.
The State party Chairman, Tanko Beji, presented the party’s flags to the senatorial candidate, Alhaji Ibrahim Ishyaku (SAN), three House of Representatives and nine House of Assembly candidates for the 2019 elections.
Beji charged the electorates to jealously protect their votes up to collation centres during the election, adding that they should also not allow anyone to intimidate them.
