The Delta Government on Monday assured the corps members serving in the state of adequate security during the 2019 general elections.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Jude Sinebe, gave the assurance during the passing-out ceremony of the combined Delta, Edo and Bayelsa orientation course.
Sinebe noted that the corps members might be the batch that would be charged with the enormous duty of facilitating the conduct of the elections.
He challenged them to prepare their minds ahead of the exercise with diligence and high sense of patriotism to the country.
He urged them to avoid the temptation of doing things that might threaten the smooth conduct of the elections and progress of the country.
According to the commissioner, government on its part will do everything possible to guarantee their safety in the course of discharging their duties.
Earlier, Benjamin Omotade, Delta NYSC Coordinator, said the scheme was sending corps members to the nooks and crannies of the state as ambassadors of the scheme and vanguards of patriotism.
Omotade urged the corps members to think of how best to positively influence and improve their host communities.
He advised the corps members to avoid being caught on the wrong side of the law as their actions could make or mar them.
