The Federal Road Safety Corps FC on Saturday defeated visiting Nigeria Air Force FC 3-1 in Group G League 1 of the Nigeria Nation-Wide League.
In the game played at the Area 3 Sports Complex, Abuja, FRSC FC dominated the match from the first blast of the whistle.
It held sway with good passes, which made the match a bit tough for the opponent.
Godspower Igba opened scoring for FRSC three minutes into the game, while Ohame Ayemene scored the second goal in the 12th minute.
Kelvin Odenigbo scored the only goal for NAF in the 46th minute.
On resumption of the second half, FRSC FC continued with the lead as Olayinka Yusuf scored the third goal in the 52nd minute.
NAF fought hard but could not convert their scoring chances to goal.
The Head Coach of FRSC FC, Akinade Onigbinde, said he was happy that his team won the game because their opponent played well.
Onigbinde said: “My boys played to instruction; I am glad we won our first game.
“We will fight to win all our games in this season.
“The god of soccer was on our side.”
John Basu, Coach of NAF FC, said his team played well in spite of its loss.
Base said: “We played well today, although we lost many scoring chances.
“I am impressed with the officiating, especially by the central referee.
“We will go back to the drawing board and do the necessary corrections.
“We will work hard to win our next match.”
