A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Masari, was on Saturday declared the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress for the 2015 elections in Katsina State.
The Chairman of Katsina Primary Elections Committee of the APC, Prof. Adesina Aderibigbe, who announced the result in Katsina, said that Masari scored 2,470 votes to defeat his rivals.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 5,266 delegates from the 34 local government areas of the were screened for the gubernatorial primary election in the state.
Aderibigbe said Sen. Kanti Bello polled 1,327 votes; Alhaji Sada Ilu scored 468 votes; and retired Col. Abdulaziz Yar’adua, late President Umar Yar’adua’s younger brother, had 243 votes.
He said that the election was free, fair and credible, adding that it was conducted in accordance with the party’s rule and regulation.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the election was conducted under tight security.
