The Plateau State Governor, Jonah David Jang, has said the 2015 general election is very crucial in the democratic history of Nigeria.
Jang said the sustenance of the country’s democracy will achieved through fervent prayers.
He tabled a four-prayer point to the church, including prayer for a credible successor who should be God fearing, and to build on the successes recorded by the his administration of Redemption.
Jang stated this when he received in audience the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Dr. Felix Omobode, at the Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
According to the governor, his administration is a product of divine arrangement.
He recalled that in 2007, he came in with a clear mandate to unite the people of the state to the glory of God.
He added that it will be a thing of joy if a God fearing person succeeds him so that such a person should be able to unite the people and build on the legacies already established.
The governor, according to a press statement by his Director of Press and Publication, James Mannok, noted that through the years, the enemy has done everything possible to destroy the state through many crises that occurred but God has continued to see the people through.
Stressing that for the state to have a credible successor, the church must intensify prayers for God’s will to be done in addition to prayers for a credible candidate that will ensure the total restoration and sustenance of peace, greater unity in the church and unity of the people on the Plateau.
The governor further cautioned the church against supporting ungodly and unbiblical practices like the same sex marriage practiced in some countries.
Earlier, Omobode, who said he was in Jos on an official visit to dialogue with the church on the Plateau, commended Jang for his unshakable faith in God and for the laudable developmental strides in the state.
