The Pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Chekwas Okorie, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the United Progressive Party.
Named as Okorie’s running mate is Barrister Bello Umar.
Chief Okerie’s emergence, according to a statement by the party’s National Media Coordinator, Orji Okorie, was announced at the National Convention of the party held on Thursday in Aba, Abia State.
According to the statement: “The Presidential Candidate of the United Progressive Party has emerged. He is Chief (Dr) CHEKWAS OKORIE.
“His Running Mate is Barrister Bello Umar.”
The statement added that the UPP flags were also presented to the gubernatorial candidates of the party.
It said: “The UPP flags were also presented to the Gubernatorial Candidates of the Party as follows: Dr. Osmond Ukanacho, the Imo gubernatorial Candidate. Dr. Chris Akomas, the former Abia Deputy Governor emerged as the UPP Gubernatorial Candidate for Abia State.
“Hajiya Binta Gwarzo Rufai, the only Female Governorship Candidate from Kano State was also presented with UPP Flag to take off her campaign activities in Kano State.”
The positions of all the National Working Committee members of the party, the statement pointed out, were also ratified at the convention.
