The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Prince Umar Manko, has approved the dismissal of a police corporal for stealing a motorbike.
Gboroye Folagbade, F/No. 444123 Cpl, attached to Ikorodu Police Station, was said to have been tried in an orderly room for stealing a motorcycle.
The corporal was said to have gone into the store where seized motorbikes were kept before they are crushed by the Lagos State Government and appropriated one to himself.
He was later found out.
Confirming the incident, police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, said that the Command has used that incident to buttress its zero tolerance to corruption and other vices from any member of the command.
Braide said: “The offence is contrary to paragraph (E) of the first schedule of Police Act and Regulation 370, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990.”
She continued: “The Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command promptly reviewed the proceedings and upheld the findings of guilt and thereby approved subject’s dismissal from the force with effect from 16/1/2013.
“All police uniforms and other accoutrements have been retrieved from the suspect and he has been arraigned with one other to Chief Magistrate Court 11 Ikorodu on 17/01/2013 in Charge No. IKD/B/05/2013 for prosecution.”
