15 held for robbery, abduction,cultism

Police in Rivers State said they had arrested 15 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and cult members.
The police also retrieved arms and ammunition during a mop up operation.
The state Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, who briefed journalists yesterday at the command’s headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, said under his watch, the command would focus on tackling “nauseating violent crimes in the state and mop up arms and ammunition from miscreants”.
He said that from September 3, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) of the force had arrested three kidnap suspects while five suspected kidnappers were killed.
Kimo disclosed that while three victims were rescued, five armed robbery suspects were arrested, and that seven suspected cult members had been arrested at different locations by the Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU).
He disclosed that 133 arms and ammunition as well as two vehicles were recovered from the hoodlums.
The commissioner vowed to make the state uncomfortable for criminals in a renewed war against criminality.
He said: “Let me emphasise that we will no longer wait for criminals to strike. Instead, we will continue to be proactive and take the onslaught to their hideouts no matter the difficulty of the terrain.”
Kimo also vowed to track down the persons behind the abduction of a columnist, Ms Donu Kogbara, who was recently abducted from her house in Port Harcourt, by six gunmen.
The commissioner said the command worried over her abduction.
He said: “We feel the abduction of your colleague the way you feel it. Her abduction is a challenge to all of us.”
