Operatives of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service have rescued a 13-year-old girl, Favour Doumo, who was allegedly locked in a hotel and sexually molested with a gun by some suspected cultists in Bayelsa State.
The victim, an indigene of Nembe Local Government Area, was abused in a hotel in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The hotel is located along Bossy Water Road in Tombia area.
The Chairman of the BSVS, Hon. Doubiye Alagba, who led members of his team on the operation, confirmed that the girl was rescued and a suspect arrested.
Alagba said they recovered from the suspect a gun, phones, money and other items.
Narrating her ordeal, Doumo said she met the suspect barely a week earlier and he invited her to the hotel, where he was residing, and made love overtures to her.
She said: “I went to the hotel to meet him only for him to accuse me of cheating on him.
“He said while I was away for an exam, as I travelled a few days ago, that I went to meet another man.
“He locked me up in the hotel room.
“Later, in company with his friend, Efe, he used a gun to threaten me that I would not go anywhere.
“They stripped me naked and started filming me with their phones.
“Thereafter, they abused me.
“He told me that he is a gun runner and that he has been to prison and that the government knows him.”
Doumo said she cried and screamed all through the night when they threatened to kill her until she was rescued by the operatives.
The suspect, Christopher Abraham, 37, a native of Ndoro in Ekeremor LGA of Bayelsa State, claimed that the victim was his girlfriend whom he had spent much money on.
Abraham said he discovered Doumo cheated on him with other men, noting that it was why he invited her.
He said when the victim came, they had a heated argument, a development that made him go physical with her out of anger.
He also claimed that the gun belonged to his friend, whom he identified as Efe, now at large.
Alagba claimed that the suspect had confessed that he and his accomplice, who is now on the run, are members of the Bobos Cult gang.
Alagba said: “The suspect is a known drug dealer and they are part of the persons causing unrest in the state.
“Let me also use this medium to warn hotel owners who harbour criminals as guests in their hotels to desist or face the wrath of the law.”
He said that a special squad of the outfit would, in the coming weeks, storm more hotels that they had intelligence report as abode of some criminals.
He assured members of the public of the outfit’s readiness to continue to ensure the safety of lives and property of the citizens of the state.
Alagba said the suspect had been handed over to the security outfit of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Operation Doo-Akpo.
