The election into the six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory holds on Saturday (today) in all the 62 wards.
The Area Council are Abuja Municipal, Kuje, Gwagwalada, Bwari, Kwali and Abaji.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, 3,062 ad-hoc staff, drawn mainly from the National Youth Service Corps, have been deployed.
No fewer than 13 political parties are participating in the election.
Among them are the Peoples Democratic Party, Accord, Action Alliance, Action Congress of Nigeria, All Progressives Grand Alliance, All Nigeria Peoples Party, and Congress for Progressive Change.
Femi Ogunbayode, the FCT Police Commissioner, assured residents that enough security personnel would be deployed to ensure law and order and a hitch-free election.
Ogunbayode also announced that there will be no vehicular between 7am and 5pm.
