The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has summoned the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode, over his role in the disbursement of $115 million by a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, was alleged to have been given N840 million from the money.
The value of the $115 million in Naira has been estimated at N23 billion.
In the letter by the EFCC to Fani-Kayode, he was told to appear at the headquarters of the Commission on Monday.
In a letter signed by Mohammed Umar Abba on behalf of the Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, the commission explained that Fani-Kayode’s name featured prominently in the alleged scam and he was needed to clarify some issues.
The letter read in part: “The commission is investigating a case of criminal conspiracy, fraud and money laundering involving Joint Trust Dimensions Limited which you featured prominently. In view of the above, you are requested to kindly report.”
Fani-Kayode has confirmed receiving the letter.
He promised keep the appointment.
