The Lagos State Government has commended the Commonwealth for sponsoring 10 teachers in public schools for postgraduate studies.
The commendation was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Education, Adesina Odeyemi.
Odeyemi said the online master’s degree programme obtained through University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2015 was coordinated by Corona Schools Trust Council.
The Permanent Secretary urged the beneficiaries to impact their students and colleagues with the knowledge acquired from the programme.
He said: “The knowledge and experience acquired in the course of the programme has become your property, which no one can rob you of.
:You stand to gain more experience when the knowledge is shared.”
Odeyemi encouraged the teachers to further their studies with a doctorate degree and assured them of the support of the state government when required.
Olufunsho Igun, the Chief Executive of Corona Trust, said three of the teachers had merit, six had credit, while the physically challenged among them was yet to complete his course.
Igun said 15 teachers were expected to participate in the second batch of Commonwealth postgraduate scholarships for Lagos teachers this year.
