At least 10 persons are feared to have died in a fresh attack on Tse Ioreleegeb, Babai Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State by suspected herdsmen.
The suspected herdsmen were said to have burnt down houses, huts and farmland in the community.
Residents are said to be fleeing the area.
The Chairman of Guma Local Government Area, Anthony Shawon, confirmed the development.
Shawon said the attackers came from neigbouring Nasarawa State.
He said: “Ten persons were killed in the attack and the village has been razed.
“My appeal is that the personnel of the military Operation Whirl Stroke should be drafted to Ukpiam village to create a buffer between Benue and Nasarawa States in the border area to check the attacks because that was where they came from.”
The police also confirmed the attack on Wednesday.
Its spokesman in Benue State, Deputy Superintendent of Police Catherine Anene, said the Police recorded five deaths in the attack, adding that security had been beefed up in the area.
