Ten countries have indicated their readiness to vie for honours in the International Para-Powerlifting Championship slated between 24th and 31st of this month in Lagos.

Ten countries have indicated their readiness  to vie for honours in the International Para-Powerlifting Championship slated between 24th and 31st of this month in Lagos.

Speaking at media briefing to herald this year’s edition of the tournament, the Para Powerlifting Federation President, Mrs Queen Uboh assured that arrangements have been put in place to host a world class event in the country. 

In her words; “Ten countries will be vying for honours with our athletes. We have since opened camp after the yuletide break during this tournament and I want to assure you that the federation is prepared to host a world class tournament.

“We have concluded plans to accommodate all the athletes in one of the four-star hotels in Lagos and we would ensure that the security of lives and property is top notch.” 

The technical director of the federation, Prince Feyisetan Aree informed that about sixty athletes have arrived the team’s camp ahead of the championship, just as he assured that the athletes would make the country proud.

The first placed athlete in various events will pocket the sum of $2,500, while the second and third placed athletes get $1,500 and 1,000 respectively.
