The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old house boy who stabbed his mistress’s 78-year-old mother to death.
The suspect, Hounvenou Christian Youine, a Togolese, stabbed the old woman several times with a kitchen knife moments after his mistress, Ajoke Olatorera, left home for a church night vigil.
Confirming the incident, police spokesperson in Lagos State, Ngozi Braide, said that early on July 1, 2014, Olatorera came to the Pen Cinema Police Station to report that her 16-year-old house boy, whom she left at home with the old woman, simply identified as Maria Atunke, while she went for a night vigil had been slaughtered.
Braide added: “Ajoke discovered on her arrival that morning that Hounvenou had stabbed the old woman to death.
“The scene of crime was visited by a team of detectives while two sharp knives and a mortar pestle were recovered.
“The whole house was scattered as a result of a struggle.
“The corpse was in a pool of blood.
“The corpse was evacuated and deposited in mortuary.”
