An Upper Shari’a Court in Gusau, Zamfara State on Friday ordered the arrest of one Mallam Abdullahi Sanni for his failure to present before the court an accused he stood as surety.
Sanni, a Protocol Officer working with the Zamfara State Government House, had stood as surety to Idris Garba, who is standing trial for alleged engaging in street fighting and constituting public nuisance.
Presiding Judge, Kabiru Hafizu, issued the order of arrest following the failure of Sani to produce the accused, a chief driver to the former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdullai Yari, in court.
The prosecutor, Mallam Umar Bungudu, told the court that Sani failed to present the accused to the court on demand and he failed to give any acceptable reason on why the accused jumped bail.
Bungudu urged the court to take the right decision that would compel the guarantor to produce the accused person in court.
He said the other accused person, Salisu Tsafe, a former Majority Leader in the Zamfara State House of Assembly, was present in court and ready for the prosecution.
It will be recalled that the two accused persons, Umar and Tsafe, were in May charged before the court for engaging in street fighting over a woman they were both dating.
