A former Chief of Staff in the Niger State Government House and the Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Niger State, Alhaji Mohammed Umar Nasko, has promised to build on the achievements recorded by Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu if he becomes the governor next year.
Nasko made the pledge in Minna on Tuesday night when he interacted with media practitioners in the state.
Nasko said Governor Aliyu has left indelible marks in the state and also laid a solid foundation that will require hard work and dedication to surpass.
According to him: “I know how he has been managing our affairs.
“We will build on what he has been doing.
“If we cannot do better, we will not do less, but we will strive to do better.”
Nasko promised that if he eventually wins the governorship election next year, education good health care delivery and infrastructural development will be the major focus of his administration.
He promised to continue the free education and payment of WAEC and NECO fees for students in public schools.
Nasko, who revealed he has been going round the state to mobilize the people on the need for them to collect their Permanent Voter Cards, said the need for the tour was the realization that without it, people cannot vote those they want to lead.
“Nigerlites should have the power to vote because there is no way to vote without the permanent voters card,” he said.
The former chief of staff pleaded with the media to support his campaign, saying that there is no better way to reach the people than through the press.
Nasko expressed gratitude to the people for the support given to his campaign organization and asked for the continuation of such support.
Prof. Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, the state Commissioner for Agriculture; Alhaji Yahaya Dansalau, the Vice Chairman of the Niger State Planning Commission, were among the prominent politicians that accompanied the aspirant to the interactive session.
