Super Eagles’ skipper, Ahmed Musa, was a shadow of himself on Wednesday as his CSKA Moscow outfit fell 2-0 at home to Wolfsburg in Matchday five of the UEFA Champions League.
Instead of banging in goals, the Nigerian winger was issued a yellow card in the 17th minute of the tie.
Musa’s other attempts at hitting the back of the net were thwarted by the Germans as the first half ended barren.
In the second half, Russian side goalkeeper, Igor Akinfeev fumbled a low range shot into his net to put Wolfsburg ahead in the 67th minute.
Moments after CSKA responded through Musa, who found plenty of space on the left before sending a dangerous cross into the box which was deny by the visitors defence.
Andre Schurrle dashed CSKA’s hope of getting back into the game as he sent the ball into the bottom corner of the net on the half-volley.
The visitors controlled the middle of the park and their Russia opponents failed to make the most of any chances that fell their way.
