Two persons were killed and over 100 traders displaced after a tanker, loaded with petrol, lost control and exploded at the Ebute area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Eyewitnesses’ accounts said that two persons were burnt to death in the explosion, which occurred around 6:45am.
One of the deceased was the conductor of the tanker, while the second was a motorcyclist.
Two cars, two cows and buildings were also burnt.
The tanker was ascending to Odo-Eran Bus Stop, when it lost control and tumbled to the other side of the road.
It fell on a Mazda 606 and both went up in flame.
The fire spread to a nearby abattoir, which hosts some of the affected uncompleted buildings, a cold room, make shift structures and two cows meant to be slaughtered.
