Kayode Aderanti, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, has assured that the eight persons kidnapped at the Nigerian Turkish International College in Ogun State would soon be released.
Benjamine Hundeyin, the spokesman of Zone 2 Police Command, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the AIG gave the assurance during his visit to the school on Saturday.
Hundeyin said: The AIG Zone 2 was at the school on Saturday with other senior police officers and met with the parents and school authority.
”He assured that those kidnapped would soon be rescued; there are operatives in search of the kidnapped students and staff.”
Aderanti said more security agents, including soldiers, had been deployed to the area.
NAN reports that unknown gunmen on Friday invaded the Isheri, Ogun State campus of the NTIC and abducted eight persons.
The victims were two Junior Secondary School students, one Senior Secondary School student, three Nigerian workers and two Turkish staff.
They were abducted at about 9:30pm on Friday when the kidnappers dug through the fence and entered through a back door.
The suspected kidnappers had demanded for about N1.2 billion as ransom for the victims.
