The Minister said the Federal Ministry of Health and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment have had series of meeting with the leadership of JOHESU, of which most of their demands had been met.

The Minister made the appeal in a statement issued by Boade Akinola, Director Media and Public Relations of the ministry on Wednesday in Abuja.

This was contained in a circular Ref. No. C. 3132/Vol. V/116, of 5th September, 2017, addressed to all CMDs/MDs of Federal Tertiary Health Institutions across the country.
Professor Adewole who has been monitoring and coordinating the Health Ministry’s intervention noted that the Federal Medical Center in Makurdi has been on ground deploying medical personnel involved in surveillance and follow-up activities to those affected by the flood.
Professor Adewole, who gave assurance of the Federal Government’s commitment to address all the issues in contention, said the government needed a little more time to address the issues.
Professor Adewole assured all Nigerians that the Federal Government Health Facilities will be open and render services to the people while the government continues to dialogue with the resident doctors to return to work. Arrangements are also on to make use of Armed forces, Police and Federal Road Safety Health Facilities.
The commencement of the strike, announced by the leadership of the doctors, came three days after the National Association of Resident Doctors signed a memorandum of terms of settlement with the government
The Minister made this known when he received on courtesy call the Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations on Road Safety, Jean Todt, in Abuja.
Others are: the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State; Federal Medical Centre, Birnin-Kebbi; and Federal Medical Centre, Abakaliki.

Adewole assured the Governor of the State, Willie Obiano, that his Ministry was monitoring the events and had placed on standby a team that can be urgently deployed to beef up services in the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, if the need arises.
Adewole made this known at a symposium on: “Cancer in Nigeria,” organised by the ministry in collaboration with health experts in the Diaspora and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba in Lagos.
