The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has approached the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, to challenge the National Industrial Court, NIC, which ordered it to call off its over seven-month old strike action.
Counsel for the union, Femi Falana, disclosed this in an interview with Channels TV.

The NIC gave the order in a judgment delivered by Justice Edith Agbakoba in a dispute between the airline and the pilot.
Others joined as respondents in the suit include the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Office of the Head of Service and Ministry of Establishment and Training.
The presiding judge, Justice Osatohanmwen Obaseki-Osaghae, told counsel to the applicants, Martin Agba, that a copy of the motion dated January 18, which he claimed to have been filed on January 26, was not in court file.
The court also ordered the claimant’s reinstatement with payment of all his salary arrears at the rate of N500,000 per month.
The judge, Justice Benedict Kanyip, delivering the judgment on Thursday, also declared that failure and refusal of the defendants to yield to the legitimate request of the claimant to withdraw 50 per cent of her RSA was a violation and negation of the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
According to the court’s ruling made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Wednesday, the Presiding Judge, Justice I.S. Galadima, ordered that Uchenna Obigwe remains in office as the state NLC Chairman.
