Former FBI Director, James Comey, on Sunday withdrew his bid to quash a congressional subpoena compelling him to testify in secret about the bureau’s decisions on investigations ahead of the 2016 presidential election, his lawyer said.

Peter Strzok, the Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who came under fire by Republicans for sending text messages that disparaged President Donald Trump during the presidential campaign, was dismissed from the bureau late Friday, his attorney said on Monday.
“Both of those things can’t be true,” Comey said in response when asked about the president’s comments on ABC, adding that he still does not know why Trump fired him in May 2017.
The news comes shortly after the release of excerpts of Comey’s new book, set to be released Tuesday, which paints a devastating portrait of the president as a congenital liar and an unethical leader.
