I received with shock therefore the news that the sitting Governor in Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, trampled on tradition in the most sacrilegious manner. He didn’t just question or challenge the Kabiyesi, he told him to shut up with a stern warning never to repeat what he said earlier. What a condemnable, inexcusable and unforgettable abomination. The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in a period of moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.

Oluwayose, who shares the same father with the governor, formally announced his defection in his hometown, Afao-Ekiti, Irepodun-Ifelodun Local Government Area, as ADB’s governorship aspirant, Segun Adewale, visited the community.
The governor was reacting to statements credited to President Muhammadu Buhari that many Nigerian youths are lazy and only wait for cheap and easy way out.
Adewale, an entrepreneur extraordinaire, philanthropist and a grassroots politician, has expressed confidence that his government, when voted into power, will not fail the people.
He said: “It is embarrassingly shameful that the President has taken his blame game to the international level by blaming the dead for his cluelessness.”
Fayose said: “It will be illegal and against the principle of federalism that operates in Nigeria for the President, who is the head of just one of the federating units to approve spending of fund belonging to the three tiers of government without the consent of heads of other federating units.”
The governor said “even though I do not agree with the personally of Obasanjo, history will not be kind to us if we do not acknowledge such a statement not minding his roles in foisting this present calamity on Nigeria and its people”.
The governor said: “With the Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index, saying that corruption has become more endemic in Nigeria than it was in the last 16 years, with the country moving 12 places below its rating, a honourable government would have stopped using fight against corruption as its major achievement and releasing names of people that are still under trial as looters just to cover up its failure.”
In a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose opined that there was no way any state in the region would develop its potential fully without the collaboration and support of others.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said in a statement on Monday that the fact that Fayose has declared support for Olusola for the PDP governorship ticket did not stop other leaders and members of the PDP from also exercising their democratic rights of supporting aspirants of their choice.
Fayose said his strong political ties with the Ekiti State electorate and his performance as a governor would make the victory easy as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Fayose said: “Obviously, the President is more concerned about his reelection in 2019 and his visit to those States that he abandoned during their times of trouble is to seek for votes, not to sympathize with the people of the States on their loses.”
The governor said: “For a President that was elected because he promised to fight corruption and clear the Northeast of the Boko Haram insurgents within three months, the signs that he must take a bow and return home are clear even more than crystal.”
Fayose, who addressed newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, said funds being spent on security seemed not well used, as instead of insecurity being curtailed, the nation was unfortunately witnessing more killings on a daily basis.
Fayose, at a meeting with the leaders of the community, however, appealed to the people of Ipao to ensure that there were no reprisal killings.

When I said that I won’t leave office as a debtor of salary, going by the efforts I have made, I was sure that the over N12 billion owed the State by the federal government on construction and rehabilitation of federal roads will be paid to Ekiti like other states this month.
It said neither Governor Ayo Fayose nor his government had the constitutional powers to ban him from holding political office, either in Ekiti or any part of Nigeria.
According to the White Paper from the Commission’s recommendations, Fayemi was banned for 10 years from holding any public office in Ekiti state and is to refund N2.75 billion.
