Abia State indigenes resident in South Africa on Saturday urged Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to remain focused and develop the state.
Chima Umealo, the President of Abia Progressives Union, told the News Agency of Nigeria on telephone from Johannesburg, South Africa that the group was happy with the Supreme Court judgment, which upheld the governor’s election.
Umealo said Abia State indigenes in South Africa want Ikpeazu to tackle challenges facing the state and move her to a higher level.
He said: “Abia indigenes resident in South Africa applauds the supreme court judgment. It is a victory for the people of the state and it has shown that the judiciary is the hope for the common man.
“Now that the distraction is over, we appeal to the governor to remain focused and develop our state.
“Our state needs massive infrastructural development in all sectors and we are optimistic Governor Ikpeazu is equal to the task.”
The President said Abia State indigenes in South Africa are ready to partner the government in various sectors, especially Information Communication Technology, Agriculture and Industrialisation.
He said the group recently presented 100 i Pads to students in selected schools in the state to make them ICT compliant.
Umealo said: “With time, we will present more. The idea is to make our students know more about ICT because it is good for their future and the state.
“On behalf of Abia indigenes living in South Africa, we rejoice with our governor and re-state our readiness to work with him to develop our state.”
