Three-time African champions, the Super Eagles, honoured South African fallen football hero, Steve Kalamazoo Mokone, in their one-all draw against Bafana Bafana at the Mbombela Stadium, Mpumalanga on Sunday.
The Daniel Amokachi side observed a moment of silence before kick-off, just as they wore arm bands for the entire duration of the tie.
Mokone, who died in Washington, USA, on March 20, was the first black South African player to play in a professional European league.
He was nicknamed The Black Meteor and Kalamazoo.
Mokone attracted much attention in his native South Africa, making his debut for a South Africa Black XI at the age of just 16.
