Some of the girls abducted by members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram, from their school in Chibok, Borno State have been freed.
The girls were seen driven into the Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri, Borno State on Tuesday evening.
They were driven into the barracks in two coaster buses.
However, the number of the girls released could not be ascertained as at press time.
About 300 girls were abducted by members of Boko Haram on April 14, 2014, while they were writing their final examinations.
Some of them escaped before they were driven into Sambisa Forest in Borno State by their abductors.
The Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, confirmed the development.
Olukolade said the process for getting the remaining girls out of captivity was ongoing.
Reports had it on Monday that a release process had been put in place based on a truce brokered by some interested parties between the government and Boko Haram.
While Boko Haram was demanding for the release of 18 of its key commanders in detention, it promised to release the girls in exchange for them.
