No fewer than 13 aspirants, including Prof. Charles Soludo, have indicated interest to contest the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The other aspirants include Chief George Muoghalu, Chief Barth Nwibe, Obinna Okonkwo, Chief Paul Chukwuma and Chief Obinna Uzor.
Dr. Chike Obidigbo, Chie Raph Okeke, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, Chief Tony Nwoye, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Senator Andy Ubah and Prince Donatus Okonkwo have also indicated interest to fly the APC flag.
The state Chairman of the party, Emeka Ibe, made the disclosure on Tuesday in Awka while briefing newsmen.
Ibe said there would not be automatic ticket for any of the aspirants, stressing that they would all participate in the primaries for selection.
Ibe said: “We will give all the aspirants equal playing ground.
“There is no special interest for any of the aspirants.
“We will hold transparent primaries for them.
“They are all qualified to unseat Governor Willie Obiano.
“Any of them who emerges as our candidate is capable of removing Obiano from office.”
The chairman announced that the party would commence continuous membership registration next week to accommodate many people wanting to join APC in the state.
Ibe, however, explained that any person with criminal record would not be allowed to join the party.
He affirmed that there was no zoning arrangement in the party, stressing that new members have equal rights as old members.
