Participants in the just-concluded Skye Bank’s mentorship Programme for women have commended the bank for its commitment in supporting the entrepreneurship aspirations of women in various sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Bada Omolola, a teacher who participated as a mentee in the recently concluded free session held under the aegis of the bank’s Skye Pearl Initiative, described the exercise as a life changing experience.
Omolola, who is a cake maker, noted the helpful tips she got from her mentor.
According to her: “My mentor was receptive, intelligent, humorous and always ready to listen.”
This afforded her the rare privilege of sharing from her wealth of knowledge and vast experience.
She thanked Skye Bank for the initiative.
Equally sharing her experience on the programme, one of the mentors, Doherty Olatokunbo, expressed her excitement about the initiative, especially coming from a Bank in this period of economic recession.
Olatokunbo praised the bank for the noble initiative.
She also encouraged the mentees to put into practice all that they have learnt so far.
Acknowledging the success recorded from the first phase of the programme so far, Skye Bank’s Group Head, Retail Banking, Ndubuisi Osakwe, stated: “It is an avenue to empower women and women-owned SMEs across the country through the influence of experienced professionals in various sectors including Banking, Fashion, Event Management, Interior Designs, Life Coaching, Education, Public Relations and Health to mention a few. Such Mentors share their wealth of knowledge, and handhold the mentees through hurdles on career and business challenges.”
The Skye Pearl Mentoring Programme, which currently has 31 mentors and 66 applicants, with 20 of them already assigned to mentors, is aimed at improving the quality of life for women as part of the bank’s contributions to economic growth and development in the country.
