The Inspector-General of Police, the National Security Adviser and the National Human Rights Commission have been tasked to investigate the whereabout of a police boss, DSP Nanbol Audu.
Audu, who was accused of gun-running by the police authorities in Kaduna State, was a serving Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Kaduna State Police Command.
However, a socio-cultural organization of the Tarok people, Ngwang Ishi O’Tarok, has expressed concern over the fate of their son, Audu.
NIO, in a press statement issued and made available to The Eagle Online, expressed worries over a report credited to the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria published in a national newspaper on November 12, 2014, alleging that Audu was killed while in detention, ostensibly to cover up the atrocities of some other people.
Pastor Nanlir Kartim Napbut, Secretary-General of NIO, who anchored the statement, is however demanding further explanations from the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria and the Kaduna State Police Command on how DSP Audu died.
The statement asked: “How did MULAN get to know of the handling of the Police issues in the command?
“Does MULAN have an insider in the Kaduna Police Command?
“What is the purpose of having insiders in government organizations?
“Is it then true that members of the insurgents are all over government organizations as expressed by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan?”
However, efforts to speak with the Kaduna State Police Commissioner, CP Umar U. Shehu; the Officer-in-Charge of Operation Yaki, the immediate boss of DSP Audu, CSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliya and the then Officer-in-Charge of the Kaduna State Police Command Armoury over the disappearance of Audu proved abortive.
