Super Eagles’ coach, Gerhot Rohr, has reiterated his stance to qualify Eagles for the World Cup taking place in Russia but reveals “he will quit if he fails to meet the target”.
The Franco-German stated this on a live broadcast on Supersports’ Monday night show.
Having arrested the decline in Nigeria’s fortune on the football scene, posting three wins in the World Cup qualifiers and one draw in the recent friendly with Senegal, expectations are now high among soccer loving Nigerians as the country embarks on the quest to qualify for a record sixth World Cup appearance.
And the German didn’t shy away from the pressure, insisting that qualification for Russia 2018 would be a mission accomplished for him.
However, failure to secure World Cup ticket would definitely see him walk out.
He said: “If we don’t win the World Cup ticket, for me I’ll say is goodbye.
“Though it is difficult against Cameroon, it is a challenge that am willing to take.
“However, if I fail, I’ll leave.”
In another development, the former Gabon coach has revealed that the Eagles will take on the Stallions of Burkina Faso in an international friendly on May 26 in France.
The Coach explained further on the decision to have the match in France, stating the UK visa debacle the Burkinabes experienced made Paris the preferred destination for the cracker.
He said: “We have seen the likes of Ola Aina, Tyronne Ebuehi Bazee and Chuba Akpom in London. They all trained with us and we hope to have them in camp in France ahead of the Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa.”
