A security expert, Mr. Folorunsho Atta has commended the recent promotions and postings of top echelons of the Nigeria Police Force.
He said it was an indication that the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Police Management Team were set to move the force for the long expected better service delivery.
Applauding the redeployment exercise, Atta said that the days of ‘man-knows-man’ and putting a ‘square peg in a round hole’ are gone.
He said that the posting of police chiefs to certain commands considered to be sensitive, showed that the influences of traditional rulers, governors and captain of industries had not only being eroded, but thrown to the trashcan.

He said: “Look at Lagos State Police Command. The new Commissioner of Police there, Mr. Kayode Aderanti was never mentioned or touted by anyone before he was announced as the police officer to man Lagos State. The other names earlier mentioned by police personnel and security stakeholders are those said to have the supports of those at the Presidency, governors and traditional rulers. However chairman of the PSC, Mike Okiro and the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba surprised everybody.
“If the current management of the police and PSC members do not change from the way they’ve started, it’s very certain that the Nigeria Police Force will in no time be taken to the next level, “enthused Atta.
While urging for a continual good working relationship between the Police Management Team and PSC, Atta said that Abba and Okiro are all men of humility, honesty and transparency, he foresees a new and virile force where its personnel will soon begin to smile.
“One factor that has acted against the progress of the force had always be acrimony between the PSC and the police. But with a cordial relationship between the two organs, more hardworking officers will emerge as their morale will be boosted through the cooperation of PSC and the Police,” said Atta.

He continued: “There are officers in the force who can beat their advanced world counterparts given the opportunity. Who says the likes of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dan Okoro, Superintendent of Police (SP) Abba Kyari, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Garba Umar of IGP Task Force on Heinous Crime, can’t do more than they are doing? The Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) in charge of Bar beach Police Station, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Mr. Adegoke Fayode, just to mention a few can’t perform better than those at Scotland Yard?”
