The police on Wednesday offered a N50 million cash reward for anyone who could provide information that leads to the recovery of the 234 girls abducted by members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram.
The girls were captured about three weeks ago at the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State.
A statement on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said the police was prepared to part with N50 million cash for information on the whereabouts of the girls.
Mba, who also gave out telephone numbers for anyone with information on the abducted girls to call, urged Nigerians to be patriotic by volunteering information.
He said in the statement: “The Nigeria Police hereby announce a cash reward of Fifty Million Naira (N50, 000, 000.00) to anyone who volunteers credible information that will lead to the location and rescue of the female students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
“The Force urges all patriotic citizens with such useful information to contact the following numbers: 09-2914649, 08081777309, 08055547536, 08032125050, 08034617591 and 08035969731.
“While calling on the general public to be part of the solution to the present security challenge, the Police High Command also reassures all citizens that any information given would be treated anonymously and with utmost confidentiality.”
