The Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Olusola Emmanuel Amore, on Thursday appealed to politicians at all levels in the state to conduct their campaigns peacefully by avoiding issues that could lead to violence in their respective communities.
Amore spoke in this vein ahead of the 2015 general election.
The COMPOL stated this while briefing the press on the activities of the command in the month of September, adding that the command has produced jingles in various languages on discouraging violence to prepare the minds of people to guide against wrangling among them.
It also disclosed that the state police command has commenced the training of officers and men preparatory to the election on riot to forestall the break down of law and order during the period in the state.
According to Amore: “The jingles on discouraging violence is to prepare the minds of people to avoid intra party wrangling.
“It needs to be managed before it leads to the break down of law and order.”
At the briefing, 15 suspects were paraded for committing various crimes such as culpable homicide, murder and house breaking.
Amore explained that 37 raids were carried out in September, during which 83 suspects were arrested.
