The Permanent Secretary in the Plateau State Ministry of Education, Christopher Bello, has challenged the state government to give priority attention to rural education.
Bello stated this during the World Teachers Day celebration at the Rwang Pam Stadium.
He noted the high rate of illiteracy in Nigeria and lack of supervision of schools in villages.
He attributed this to high level of poverty and diseases.
He advocated for children’s involvement in teachers’ day celebration to boost the activities of the government.
Bello stressed the need for the state to declare state of emergency on rural schools across the state so the level of ignorance will be reduce completely.
According to him, those schools that were destroyed during crisis should be rebuilt and teachers should be posted to the affected communities.
