The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission on Wednesday failed to arraign in court one Adeniyi Olasunbo who was accused of receiving N547,765 pension money meant for Olagbemi Simeon and Fabelurin Nathaniel.
ICPC’s counsel, Karakaraye Adeoluwa, told the court that the accused person absconded after he was granted an administrative bail by the commission.
Adeoluwa said the commission was making efforts to locate the whereabout of the accused person who had moved out of her apartment.
The ICPC counsel said that the surety had, however, assured the commission that he would find out the whereabout of the accused person and prayed the court for an adjournment.
Justice Muktar Abimbola adjourned the case till June 6 for arraignment.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the accused was arraigned on a three-count charge of forgery, receiving pensioner’s money and giving false information.
NAN also reports that Olasunbo falsely received N269,960 and N277,805 pension money belonging to Simeon and Nathaniel from June 2009 to June 2010.
The accused allegedly submitted an identity card with her photograph to Access Bank and former Oceanic Bank bearing the name of Simeon and Nathaniel with the intent to open an account for her and pay in the pension benefit meant for the duo to her.
