The Peoples Democratic Party will hold its ward congress throughout the country on Saturday.
The party has however disqualified ward officials in Abia, Imo and Anambra States, which tenures have lapsed, from voting in the ward delegates elections.
The ward congress is aimed at electing three ad hoc delegates who will, in turn, participate in the nomination of the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the various states.
These delegates will also nominate PDP candidates for the National and State Assemblies elections and also elect national delegates who will participate in a special national convention for the nomination of the presidential candidate of the party.
The electoral guidelines released by the party on Friday for the primary elections, indicated that one of the three ad hoc delegates shall be a woman.
It stressed that the election of the delegates shall be by open ballot, with three aspirants with the highest votes returned elected.
The guideline provided that where no woman is among the three aspirants with the highest votes, the female aspirant that scored the highest votes among the aspirants shall be declared the third delegate.
