The Plateau State House of Assembly has been called upon to investigate the activities of the one month All Progressives Congress administration of Governor Lalong of Plateau State.
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Plateau state said it not happy with the antecedents of the APC government.
It said if not checked, it will disrupt democratic structures in the state.
The acting chairman of the PDP, Chief Raymond Dabo, told journalists that the sacking of the chairman of Shendam Local Government Area and subsequently dissolving all the council chairmen in the 17 local government areas was unconstitutional and would not be taken.
Dabo said: “We must inform you and the public that there has been absence of governance on the Plateau and arbitrary loan acquisition without recourse to the due process as well as misappropriation/duplication and poor prioritization of government project as witnessed in the N2.4 billion contract awarded for the renovation of the state presidential lodge.
“Ratification of impunity: the unlawful dissolution of Comrade Kemi Nshe on Shedam LGA and the unlawful dissolution of council executives and the appointees without regard the local government law, which was signed into law when he (Lalong) was the speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.”
Dabo urged members of the legislative arm to investigate the true position as to whether any of such loans had been obtained and take all necessary action to forestall same.
Dabo, who was accompanied to the briefing by the sacked council members,
reminded the House of Assembly members to see themselves as watchdogs of the current administration on behalf of the people of the state.
He said: “Any attempt to usurp their powers is worth condemning even by the APC as a democratic party as its claims.”
