The Peoples Democratic Party on Monday raised the alarm over alleged plan by the All Progressives Congress to use the social media to announce fake results of the elections even while they were yet to be collated.
This, the party said, was aimed at creating the impression that APC was robbed of victory by the time the Independent National Electoral Commission later authenticates and declares the final results.
The PDP National Chairman, Dr. Adamu Mu’azu, who made the allegation at a meeting with PDP state campaign coordinators in Abuja, however, charged them to remain steadfast despite the propaganda by the APC.
According to Mu’azu: “It is sacrosanct for the party to ensure that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo are duly re-elected.
“This is a cardinal point that all Coordinators must bear in mind and work towards its realization.”
The meeting, which had the Director General of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Senator Ahmadu Ali; Bauchi State Governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda; among others in attendance, was called to review the activities of nationwide presidential campaign as well as plan for the weeks ahead before the March 28 presidential election.
Mu’azu encouraged the state coordinators to increase their work rate to ensure success, noting that PDP has to produce majority in the National Assembly.
According to him: “The importance of a bandwagon effect must be stressed and seized with both arms so the party can win all the elections and therefore continue its tremendous transformation of Nigeria in all sectors of the economy.
“Blow your own trumpet because our administration has achieved a lot under President Jonathan.
“As the ambassadors of this administration, you must not be afraid to blow your trumpet because no one will blow it for you as we have achieved so much which the opposition is pretending never happened.
“We must flaunt our successes in agriculture (dry season farming and fertilizer distribution revolution), education (over 200 almajiri schools, 13 new universities in 13 states), power, aviation, job creation and the economy which has made Nigeria the biggest economy in Africa.”
While cautioning them against internal squabbles, Mu’azu charged them to work with state governors in PDP-controlled states and party chairmen in non-PDP controlled states in order to have a cohesive force.
His words: “Most importantly, this is time for commitment, loyalty and transparency.
“This is crucial to winning the 2015 elections.
“Our party has hit the opposition hard by exposing their pack of lies and their desperation to win at all costs and relying solely on promises that they have no intention of fulfilling.
“Go for it my brothers and sisters.
“We are on the move to victory as our enemies are now running scared.”
