The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Oyo State branch on Wednesday suspended its three-month-old strike after the State Government acceded to its demand on the autonomy of the judiciary.
Adesanya Adesina, the National Vice President of JUSUN, told newsmen in Ibadan that Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State had acceded to the autonomy of the judiciary by signing an agreement with JUSUN that he would be paying N150 million to JUSUN’s account monthly.
Adesina said: “Ajimobi had paid a sum of N150 million into JUSUN’s account for the month of January, which covers recurrent, overhead, capital expenditure, workers salaries and allowances.
“We see this as a concrete commitment and a need for the strike to be suspended.”
Contributing, Ademola Ayoade, the Oyo State JUSUN Chairman, said the state judiciary staff would open for full service on Thursday and urged members to be diligent at work.
Ayoade urged the staff not to be corrupt and be punctual at work.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Judiciary had embarked on strike since January 2 against the non-implementation of the Judgment of a court which granted autonomy to the judiciary.
