Super Eagles’ midfielder, Ogenyi Eddy Onazi, was hapless on the bench as his SS Lazio suffered a 1-0 defeat to Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday in Serie A action.
The 21-years old midfielder who renewed his contract at the weekend is yet to feature for the club in any competition this season.
Onazi agreed a new deal worth N2billion per season to remain at SS Lazio of Italy.
The midfielder has been in the senior squad since July 2012 and his current contract is set to expire in June 2016.
The extension will be until June 2018 with wages worth €0.7 million (N2 billion) per season, though there should also be a buy-out clause for €10 million.
Meanwhile, Genoa left it late to clinch all three points and got the winner through Pinilla in the 87th minute who headed in from a yard out thanks to a cut-back from Perotti, who had controlled the ball well from a cross field ball.
Lazio pressured Genoa in the final moments and had a free kick deflected wide, however, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side will be delighted to get their first victory of the campaign regardless of the performance.
