Oil marketers in Nigeria have called off their strike with immediate effect.
This followed the intervention on Monday of the Senate.
The marketers promised to commence immediate lifting of fuel.
They said fuel should be available for use by Nigerians within six hours.
These positions were contained in an agreement brokered by the Senate after a meeting between the oil marketers and the Federal Government.
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Downstream, Senator Magnus Abe, made the announcement at the end of the meeting at the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Monday.
The agreement had it also that the Department of Petroleum Resources should immediately revoke the license of any oil marketer that refuses to lift petroleum products/
The Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, attended the meeting.
Okonjo-Iweala endorsed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government.
