Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday survived a tyre blow out while travelling on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Obasanjo was said to be heading to Lagos to attend the 80th birthday church service of business mogul, Sir Kesington Adebutu.
One of the rear tyres of the Sports Utility Vehicle in which he was travelling was said to have exploded.
Obasanjo, who just left a church service held in honour of his late wife, Chief Stella Obasanjo, in Abeokuta, had to move into the backup car in his convoy while the tyre was changed.
Once the tyre was changed, Obasanjo got back into the car and headed for Lagos where he was part of the church service for Adebutu’s birthday at the Methodist Church of the Holy Trinity, Tinubu.
After the service, Obasanjo left for Cote d’Ivoire where he is a part of the monitoring team for the country’s elections.
The Head of Media Relations and Strategy of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Bisi Kazeem, in a text message, said contrary to reports on some platforms, Obasanjo was not involved in an accident.
Kazeem said it was simply a case of a blown out tyre.
